I was able to (mostly) keep up with all the suggestions, bug reports, and input from fans though. I've written up a rough to do list for version 0.3, which will be listed in this post. It's larger than my 0.2 list so it's going to take longer to complete. I'm not going to burn myself out by keeping up the pace I was in the first half of the 0.2 development, I'll never finish it doing that. Several people should notice their suggestions being implemented in this version, so keep sending them in! It really helps getting others perspectives especially on the little things. I'll be putting various polls up from time to time to see everyone's opinions on certain things. Also if anyone is particularly good at photoshop and/or picture hunting, I could use help in those areas. My personal skill in editing photos is limited to paint and picture hunting gets tiring very quickly.
0.3 to do list:
- Another "Official" job
- Prostitution
- 1 event to each existing job
- 2 random street encounters
- 2 random alley encounters
- Kinetic Barriers
- Combat Visors
- 2 guns
- 2 purchasable clothes
- 4 sidequests
- 2 main quests
- Next step in Mr. Kind's story
- Quest tracker
- Combat tweaks
- Super Stimpacks
- Another persistent character
- Next step in Dawn's story
- Next step in Maria's story
- "Looking for trouble" in the alley
- At least 1 event to the hotel bathing while door open
big list indeed.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work.
I also hope that your motivation/courage will stay up until final release.
good luck!
ReplyDeleteLiking the content so far. Combat feels a bit too old school (roll dice, miss, damn) but so far, great.
ReplyDeleteOne question that's probably been asked a bajillion times, will there be girl-girl stuff? If I'm rich I'd like to relax and get me a stripper, instead of being their security all the time.
That's one giant list! By the time the game is complete it will be as long as TotDC. XD
ReplyDeletePromising list, looking forward to the update.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck!
Hi Asmina, I've recently stumbled across your blog and your game. I've played a few RAGS games in the past and most of them have been sub par, boring and poorly written.
ReplyDeleteSo I just wanted to say that I really like your game! It's well written, the characters are nicely done and it has a good selection of music.
I've only just got up to Matt calling for the first time and I'm hooked. It's not often a RAGS game has a good story. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what happens!
So no (complete) markers this time?
ReplyDeleteLet's hope that's the markers are just forgoten. Please tell us that the project is still alive.
ReplyDeleteGive it a month before people start fretting that it's dead. Granted we're getting there, but we're not there yet.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't dead. Real life is just slowing things down.
ReplyDeleteSo you have a poll for how the super stimpacks should work. This is a Bad Thing. Game mechanics should function a certain way because they need to, not because of how other people who aren't intimately familiar with your game want them to work.
ReplyDeleteuhhh wait a second let me get this right.
DeleteA poll regarding what people 'want' to see in a game, namely the same people who will be playing said game, is a bad thing?
The rags engine can easily work in ways to cover all of the proposed examples in the poll. Those variables are already in behind the scenes. It's simply a matter of how Asima should set them up with regard to this item. The amount of programming involved for any of the three options is really already present in some way, shape, or form in the game.
I agree taking community requests and getting feedback can potentially get out of hand. However that is a non factor with regard to this item. It is also probably irrelevant to Asima how they are set up. Overuse can be curtailed by setting a high price point in game, or making them sufficiently rare as to not cut out the 'difficulty' factor with completing quests. In this case getting some community feed back from her fans, the ones playing the game and enjoying it, is not a bad thing and is appreciated by the majority of the fan base.
Lets just hope you don't ever decide to go into business and then proceed to tell your customers what they 'should' want. Listening to them tell you what they would like or need is a much more solid approach.
I don't see anything wrong with seeing how the player community wants it done. The decision is up to me in the end, after all. :)
