I haven't been able to put as much time into the game as I would like lately. Between prepping for a new job, a wedding coming up, and a friend in town I haven't seen since the accident, my free time has been fairly limited. That being said all the background stuff is finished except for the saving/loading and I wanted to post a link to get some input from ya'll. You can't leave the hotel yet but everything that was in the hotel is completed (I think!) including the hotel guard job and the pimp scene. I set it so the pimp scene and the mr. kind bath scene will automatically run first time instead of the chance of it running.

Let me know if you guys find any bugs or typos but what I really want is input. Maybe someone will have a great idea on how to handle something that I haven't thought of. It would be a lot easier to change the mechanics now rather than later.
Also I would appreciate it if someone who is familiar with firearms would email me. I have a simple question but it's sort of a spoiler so I don't want to ask it here.
Tested the bath scene. Dropped shirt. Teleported to Dawn's room without it. Stuck.
ReplyDeleteI am aware of that one, forgot to warn against it. I haven't put in the little check to make sure you're in specific spots when dropping clothes yet.

A few more things:
ReplyDelete1) No ammo. I got the pistol at the firing range, then went to the front and took a shift, being given a gun at the start, but had no ammo. Fired the gun, but still had no ammo.
2) After firing that shot, there are close-quote marks on some of the descriptions of actions as well as on the spoken lines.
3) Having to click "back" to close the menu for one item before I can open the menu for another is a little annoying: door => close => back => bath => bathe => back rather than door => close => bath => bathe.
John actually gives you a loaded gun now. It saves me a huge headache of coding that way. No more checks to make sure you have loaded firearm anymore.

I'll look into tweaking the system. You have to use back now to prevent from moving during certain events but I think I can make it better.

I know that this (starting setup) is fairly obvious, but perhaps distinguishing advantages and disadvantages at the start of the game could be useful for newer players. Also, denoting what advantages (if any!) or what disadvantages (are they really?) somewhere could be fun. I love seeing stats for... different things that happened to the PC as she, uh, grows and evolves as a person in this 'Verse. Hopefully we'll see more. (No longer can I just scroll up to see all her past history to see how she got to where she currently is after all.) It's SO GREAT to see the game back again! ;D

Oh man. I was checking the site every couple weeks til just a few months ago. Sorry to hear about the accident, and your hand, but damn am I glad you're back. The interest in this 'stupid adult text adventure game' never really died down because it was fixing to be the best one out there. Have you ever thought about a forum?

What's bothering me in the current version is picture hunting. Namely models for my characters. Take Kaylee for example. I have to work my story around available photos of the model I chose, even if she has hundreds of photos to choose from. Also the rags system itself has limitations that I need to work around. Don't get me wrong, the rags system is amazing for it's simple way to create games, but it does have some issues that make it harder for me to do some things.
I'm thinking about starting over (while keeping the story so far) but instead of using the rags designer, create it in flash. It would be similar to Champions of Corruption. Text windows, stats, input buttons, and even a few picture frames. All runnable from your browser and it greatly opens up the possibilities of the game. There is nothing I can do in rags that I can't do in flash, but there are many things that I can do in flash that I can't do in rags.
Are there more Evants? Because I have only see the bathroom and the lil Job by John, the Guard Job.

ReplyDeleteI tried to put money in Dawn's safe after standing watch for the first time, but it never takes. Now I can't do anything else. I tried various amounts; 100, 80, 20, 10, even tried typing out one hundred. It wouldn't take the space between the words though. I guess I'll have to restart from the beginning. Loving the game though. :) Great work!

ReplyDeleteI can't seem to go out in the streets, am I missing something, is it a bug that I keep running in to, or is that as far as the content goes at the moment?
ReplyDeleteI haven't played this in quite a while, but you should be able to. IIRC, there should be other locations you can reach by going through the streets. Hmm, perhaps I'm thinking of the version of the game before the reboot? I'm sorry for not providing a definite answer; it's been a long, long time since I played this game. (Still hoping for an update.) Well, good luck and continue to have fun with the game before you run out of content! --Another Anon
DeleteIf your using the swf version then there is nothing more you can do, it doesn't go out into the streets. The RAGS version does and has quite a bit more content/places to go, people to see/meet/interact with. No idea if the game is even being worked on anymore though.
